We have been waiting for the opportunity to listen to live music from the Arcitc Riff album in the original line-up more then one and half year. Luckily, Joe Lovano will join the Polish Trio on a concert tour in selected venues and at selected festivals in Poland and Europe in autumn 2021.
The Marcin Wasilewski Trio album with Joe Lovano entitled „Arctiff Riff”, recorded for the ECM Records, was released on June 26, 2020. It was recorded at France’s Studio La Buissonne in August 2019, and produced by Manfred Eicher.
The first-time teaming of Poland’s dynamic Marcin Wasilewski Trio and big-toned US tenorist Joe Lovano brings forth special music of concentrated, deep feeling, in which lyricism and strength seem ideally balanced. The alliance plays four new tunes by Marcin and one by Joe, as well as Carla Bley’s classic “Vashkar” (in two variations).
The quartet, of Polish most outstanding jazz trio, Marcin Wasilewski with world jazz master saxophonist Joe Lovano, will start theitr tour at some best European festivals: GetCloser in Budapest, in the Finnish Espoo at the April Jazz Festival, the Belgrade Jazz Festival, JazzMi Festival in Milan, Veneto Jazz in Venice, Roma Jazz Festival, will also visit Palermo and Catania in Sicily to conclude European part in Spain’s Seville and Puerto Real (Cadiz ).
For the final part of „Arctic Riff” Tour the Quartet will perform a series of concerts in Poland: at Warsaw’s Roma Theatre, Aula Artis in Poznań, Szczecin and Gdańsk Philharmonics, ICE Kraków Congress Centre and the Music Academy of Katowice.
The Marcin Wasilewski Trio & Joe Lovano „Arctic Riff” Tour 2021 is co-financed by the Minister of Culture, National Heritage and Sport of the Republic of Poland and co- organized by the Film and Jazz Foundation, Adam Mickiewicz Institute in Warsaw, the Polish Institutes: in Budapest, Madrid, Rome, the Zbigniew Seifert Foundation.
The co-organizer of the entire concert tour – the Film and Jazz Music Foundation is best known, among others, by the organizing of Krakow Jazz Juniors Festival and Competition (Marcin Wasilewski’s Trio is one of it’s laureates in 1991).
The Polish concerts take place thanks to cooperation and support of the Union of Performing Artists STOART, ICE Kraków Congress Centre and Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice.
