It was the concert titled Vars & Kaper DeconstructiON, performed by Paweł Kaczmarczyk and Dorota Miśkiewicz in ICE Krakow Congress Centre, to inaugurate this year’s edition of Jazz Juniors International Exchange. On the first day of auditions held in Zet Pe Te club, we could listen to two bands: Judyta Pisarczyk Ensemble and Organic Noises. The cycle of side events accompanying the festival, organised together with Harris Piano Jazz Bar, was launched by NSI Quartet.

The Sunday afternoon saw a competition between two young jazz bands: Judyta Pisarczyk Ensemble, and Organic Noises. The entrants compete not only for valuable prizes, but also for professional contacts, and a chance to appear on international stages. This year’s jury assessing the future stars of improvised music consists of: Anastasios Savvopoulos (Germany), Janusz Grzywacz (Poland), Jakub Knera (Poland), Enrico Moccia (Italy), Dinara Nurgaleeva (Russia), Mateusz Prus (Poland), and Michel Schoonbroodt (Belgium).
Jazz Juniors International Exchange was inaugurated in ICE Krakow Congress Centre with a meeting of two extraordinary figures on the Polish jazz stage: pianist Paweł Kaczmarczyk and his guest – singer Dorota Miśkiewicz. Musicians presented project titled Vars & Kaper DeconstructiON, referring to the works of genius Polish composers. Other participants of the concert were members of Audiofeeling Trio – Kuba Dworak (double bass), Dawid Fortuna (pdrumserkusja), and a DJ – Mr. Krime.
The first day of the festival finished with a concert in Harris Piano Jazz Bar, performed by the laureates of Jazz Juniors 2012 – NSI Quartet. The band presented compositions from their latest album released this year – the amazing and vigorous “The Look of Cobra”.
